Black Badge

The Huronia Handgun Club is proud to support IPSC Competition. Our club typically hosts a IPSC Black Badge Course every couple of years. Keep an eye out for this sought after course, get certified, and take part in Ontario’s most popular Action Pistol Sport.

The Black Badge Course typically consists one 2-4 hour Classroom session, and 2 full days of shooting.

The Range days will consist of Students being taught a number of skills.  The students will then need to complete these skills successfully to pass the course. It is recommended that students be competent shooters, that are consistently able to hit a 81/2″ X 11″ piece of paper 9.5 out of 10 times at 25 yards with no time limit.  It is recommended that candidates have completed the Clubs Holster course, are Action Range Approved, and are familiar with their Firearm and all their equipment.

To take part in the course you must have the following equipment:  Pistol, Magazines, Holster, Mag Pouches, Belt, and Ammo.  IPSC is practiced in over 80 Countries around the world, and will be an Olympic Observer Sport at the next Summer Olympics.  Equipment used by IPSC Participants must be approved and allowed according to the sports rule, for Safety Reasons.  The following are guidelines for equipment needed for the course:

Pistol- A list of allowed pistols is available to verify if it is allowed in IPSC.
Magazines- The Student will require a minimum of 4 Magazines for their Firearm, 5 is Recommended.

Holster- Most holsters are approved and must be worn on a belt. Some examples of Non-Approved Holsters include:  Drop Leg Holsters, and any Serpa Holster (A Holster that has a button that must be depressed to release the firearm).

Mag Pouches- It is recommend that the student have at least 4 Mag pouches. It is also a good idea to have a magnet on one of those pouches.

Belt- A good Sturdy belt is best.  A belt that is made up of an Inner and outer Belt is recommended

Ammo – For the 2 days of the course you will need up to 600 rounds of ammo, but depending how well you shoot, you could use a lot less than that.
